For care levels 2 through 5, the following services are available to assist with home care:
- Care Allowance: If care is provided by family members or acquaintances, the long-term care insurance fund pays a monthly care allowance. The person receiving care can pass this on to the caregiver.
- In-Kind Care Benefits: If a professional care service provides care, the recipient is entitled to care and support services as well as assistance with household tasks. These services are billed directly to the long-term care insurance fund.
- Combined Benefits: You may also choose a combination of cash benefits and in-kind care benefits. If an outpatient care service is used only partially, the recipient remains entitled to a pro-rata care allowance. The person in need of care is generally bound to the combination of services for half a year.
Characteristics of Care Level 1
Care Level 1 is designed to maintain and restore independence and prevent the need for more intensive care. The individuals in question require only a minimal amount of assistance, for example, with personal care, leaving the home, or managing household tasks. These are often people with a physical illness.
These are the benefits for Care Level 1:
- Care Counseling
- Counseling on the Home Situation
- Caregiving Courses for Family Members and Volunteer Caregivers
- 224 € Shared Housing Surcharge
- 42 € per month for the provision of assistive devices
- A maximum of 4,180 € per project for improving the residential environment
- Relief amount of 131 € (This amount is intended to reimburse costs for care and support services, such as housekeeping assistance, assistance with using the restroom, etc.)
- €131 subsidy for those receiving full-time inpatient care
Anyone receiving inpatient care at Care Level 1 must therefore cover all costs themselves, except for €131.
