Short-Term Care

For individuals requiring care who are classified as care levels 2–5, up to 8 weeks of short-term care may be utilized per calendar year. The payment for this is €1,854. This amount can be supplemented by funds from respite care (by up to €1,685, for a total of €3,539). Half of the care allowance will continue to be paid for up to 8 weeks.

Respite Care

People with care levels 2–5 are also eligible for respite care for up to 8 weeks, up to a maximum of 1,685 € per calendar year. For days on which respite care is provided for less than 8 hours, those hours are not counted toward the maximum duration. In this case , the care allowance is not reduced either . If care is needed for more than 8 hours a day, the care allowance continues to be paid only for a maximum of 8 weeks and at half the usual rate.
