Age-homogeneous groups

In age-homogeneous groups, play and educational activities are specifically tailored to a particular developmental stage. Children of the same age have similar interests and needs, which makes it easier for them to play together, learn, and make friends.

Mixed-age groups

Mixed-age groups are modeled after a large family. Children of different ages learn and play together, and siblings can be cared for together. Younger children benefit from their older peers, while older children develop consideration and a sense of responsibility. Nevertheless, programs such as preschool are specifically designed for certain age groups.

Open Group Structure

In open-concept settings, fixed core groups may dissolve partially or completely. Children choose their own play and learning activities and move between different areas. This approach promotes independence, motivation, and concentration. Today, elements of open-concept approaches are often integrated into the daily routine even in daycare centers with fixed groups.
