Child Benefit
Child benefit is a government benefit designed to support families, regardless of family income. It helps offset the ongoing costs of raising children. Child benefit amounts to 259 euros per child. You can find more detailed information on this topic here on the website of the Federal Ministry of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women, and Youth (BMBFSFJ).
Child Supplement
An additional benefit for working parents is the child supplement, which is granted if the family’s income is insufficient to cover the child’s living expenses. As long as your children live in your household, are under 25 years of age, and are unmarried, you can receive up to 297 euros per month from social services. Those who receive the supplement may also be eligible for benefits related to education and participation. You can find more information about the child supplement here on the BMBFSFJ website.
