Dementia in the Family: When Memories Fade—Still Seeing the Person
Dementia can impair memory, language, orientation, and other cognitive abilities. These changes are often particularly noticeable in everyday life.
Family members may notice, for example, that familiar conversations become more difficult, shared memories can no longer be recalled, or that the person can no longer say their own name.
That can be painful. At the same time, a person is not defined solely by their memory. His personality, his life story, his preferences, and his habits remain important when interacting with him. Current desires, feelings, and needs also deserve attention—even when they can no longer be expressed in words.
Through our care.talk initiative, we create a space for a personal exchange of experiences and a shared shift in perspective—moving away from focusing exclusively on what people with dementia lose, and toward what continues to define them. What they feel, their needs, and how we can respond to them.
The focus is not on finding perfect solutions, but on the open exchange of experiences, perspectives, and ideas.
An evening for reflection, discussion, and shared discovery.
Our experts share their knowledge and encourage you to talk about the challenges you face as a caregiver and to share your experiences with ways to get some relief. Network and share your thoughts. Because you are not alone. Connection happens when people listen to one another.
You will receive the link to join the event directly in your confirmation email.
